About the Position:

The Jewish Federation of Broward County is looking for a Temporary Grant Specialist to increase grant funding levels by identifying appropriate grantors and the execution and submission of grant requests. Responsible for management of the grant application development process including completing grant applications and preparing supporting documents. Responsible for grant compliance including required reporting. This is a 12 month assignment.

What you will be doing: (principal duties/responsibilities/tasks of the role, typical day):

  • Research, apply and coordinate the process for securing Foundation and government grants in accordance to applicable standards, regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify public and private grant opportunities and ensure local agencies are matched with such opportunities.
  • Meet all grant and proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, document preparation and review.
  • Create a database of potential grants and timelines for the entire grant writing process.
  • Review funder websites, application guidelines and determine appropriateness of potential funder.
  • Work with Federation staff and beneficiary agencies to identify areas of need where a grant could fulfill a financial need.
  • Develop relationships with local and national grant-making communities.
  • Manage grant reporting requirements and grant implementation deadlines.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience with FEMA/Security grants preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in grant writing.
  • Must have strong research, analytical, verbal and written communication skills; knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products and other basic programs.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Knowledge of social services helpful
