ABOUT US 
Congregation Rodeph Sholom (CRS) is a large dynamic Reform synagogue at the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side and has a strong 180-year history. We are a community for all who enter our doors and our members represent the vibrant diversity of New York’s Jewish landscape. Multi-generational families, millennials, interfaith families, lifelong New Yorkers, those new to the city, folks pursuing conversion and those exploring Judaism for the first time have all found a home at CRS. 

ABOUT YOU 
Congregation Rodeph Sholom seeks a creative, tech-savvy, and self-motivated Marketing and Communications Coordinator with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in communications to promote the synagogue through email and our websites.

While we can and will train the right individual, applicants with demonstrated professional experience using the following programs will have a significant advantage in the hiring process:

  • Constant Contact (or similar email marketing applications, such as MailChimp)
  • Wordpress-powered website management
  • Monday.com (or similar project-management applications, such as Asana or Trello)
  • Photoshop and/or Canva
  • Simpletix or other ticket management software

Knowledge of Jewish culture and religious traditions and institutions is a plus.

Above all, the ideal candidate possesses very strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, is ready to hit the ground running, and is excited to tell the Rodeph Sholom story.

WORK SCHEDULE 
Our team works on a hybrid schedule. All our team members must be flexible and able to adapt to short- and long-term shifts in their job duties. Working hours are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (4:00 PM on Fridays); additional hours may be required evenings and weekends, generally with advance notice and a payout in either additional vacation or salary to compensate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Coordinate the scheduling, writing, editing, and sending of e-mail communications; manage distribution lists with Program Assistant; create and distribute regular email performance reports.
  • Make website updates and manage web calendars; create and distribute regular website traffic reports.
  • Maintain public-facing event ticketing pages.
  • Light graphic design work using either templates, stock photos, or your own creativity.
  • Organize photos and videos in centralized archive.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in the field of communications.
  • Direct email marketing experience, including strategy, implementation, analytics, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated WordPress skills.
  • Content creation skills, i.e.: photography, video editing, copywriting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Google Docs, and SharePoint/One Drive.
  • Proficiency in graphic design programs such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting on key metrics.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Comfortable learning new programs is essential. Training is provided for Wordpress, Zoom, Constant Contact, SimpleTix, Concur, Airtable, Monday.com, SalesForce, and other tools as they become available.

  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Rodeph Sholom community of employees, volunteers, lay leaders, and with other organizations and industry contacts.

SALARY & BENEFITS 

  • Salary range: $57,000-$63,000; commensurate with experience.

VACCINATION POLICY 

  • All staff must be fully vaccinated, including booster shot. Proof of vaccination required at start of employment.
