Director of Marketing & Communications 

Honeymoon Israel (HMI) provides immersive trips to Israel for locally based cohorts of couples that have at least one Jewish partner and are early in their committed relationship, creating communities of couples who are building families with meaningful connections to Jewish life and the Jewish people. To date, HMI has run more than 100 trips from 20 cities across North America - bringing more than 2,000 couples to Israel. Our team is looking for a strategic, experienced professional to serve as the Director of Marketing & Communications. The ideal candidate has a broad knowledge of all aspects of marketing and communications with an ability to use storytelling to achieve organizational goals. This person understands how to create a brand with meaning and purpose. 


Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Strategy:

  • Ensure the departmental strategy is aligned with and supports the overall organizational strategy
  • Develop an annual plan and revise it quarterly including responding to macro and sector trends, then map out how the team will execute it 
  • Coordinate with all departments to create cohesion and synergy 
  • Develop and implement marketing plan to recruit applicants for the program
  • Find opportunities to tell HMI’s story to the broader philanthropic and Jewish world 

Crisis Communications:

  • Maintain and update the Crisis Communications plan 
  • Serve as the organizational lead for crisis response, including creating a plan, drafting messaging for relevant stakeholders such as trip participants or the executive board, managing media inquiries, and supporting the Senior Leadership team
  • Update policies and procedures related to the coronavirus in real time in collaboration with the Leadership Team 
  • Determine what crisis events and social justice issues the organization will comment on, what will be said, and how it will be distributed including social media 


  • Co-Create alumni giving campaigns 
  • Creation of reports that convey the impact of the organization to help secure and maintain funding
  • Provide testimonials and stories for grant applications and promotion of the program
  • Oversee the development of materials for funder meetings or conferences including decks, infographics, and one-pagers 
  • Position HMI in local media to broaden exposure of HMI to potential funders


  • Define brand messaging, ensuring key messaging is consistent across all touchpoints
  • Oversee development and implementation of all print and digital communications including marketing collateral, email, web copy, and social media
  • Work cross functionally with the entire organization and serve as a proficient project manager
  • Supervise the Marketing & Communications Specialist
  • Manage vendor relationships 


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 8-10 years of professional experience in marketing, strategic communications, development or a related field
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience using online communication software, including email marketing (such as Mailchimp) and customer relationship management software (such as Salesforce)
  • Experience overseeing and/or implementing a digital media strategy
  • Experience using visual design programs (such as Adobe Software)
  • Experience working in a multi-site and virtual work environment and managing remote/virtual staff a bonus
  • Experience working with and managing outside vendors 
  • Clear written, verbal, and visual presentation communication skills required
  • Strong understanding of internal and external stakeholder management
  • Experience managing staff and building and contributing to collaborative, high-functioning teams
  • Commitment to the mission of HMI


This position is based in the US. The salary range for this position is $90-120k per year. Salary is commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits, including great insurance plans, unlimited vacation policy, and a retirement plan. Flexible work environment including ability to work from home and from an office (city dependent). Occasional travel within the United States and to Israel may be required. The position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.
