Associate Teacher
Full-time position to begin immediately
Perelman Jewish Day School, a Pre-Kindergarten to 5th Grade independent school in the Philadelphia area, is seeking a motivated team player to join our community as an Associate Teacher (Ganon/Pre-Kindergarten) for the 2024 - 2025 School Year.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers during class time, working primarily in individual and small group settings to address the personal learning needs of the students.
- Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities for all students as needed and identified in partnership with the classroom teacher.
- During meeting time with classroom teacher(s):
- Stay informed of individual student needs
- Plan together with opportunities for the Associate Teacher to take the lead on a specific curricular area or unit
- Help prepare materials for the classroom
- Help plan for parent/teacher conferences and regular parent communication (ex: weekly newsletter)
- Contribute ideas, participate in discussions, engage with other teachers (ex: collaborate on a regular basis with grade level team for cross-curricular integration)
- Join the classroom teacher for parent/teacher conferences (when possible if working with more than one teacher)
- Two lunch/recess duties per week; 1 preparatory period a day
- Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM Tuesday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:50 PM Monday, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM Fridays in the winters
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; graduate degree preferred
- Have a strong knowledge of developmental needs of young children and appropriate curricula that meet those needs
- Full understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Technology skills including Google Suite and Google Classroom
- High-energy and enthusiastic about working in the Jewish day school atmosphere

Compensation for this position will range from $38,000 to $45,000, is commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package. Paid time off includes Jewish and secular holidays, two lengthy school vacations, and additional PTO. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, FSA, 403(b), and tuition remission. This position is in person from late-August through mid-June.
