Temple Sinai is excited to welcome a new member to our staff team! 

We are seeking a full-time Clergy Assistant to support our Senior Rabbi and Cantor and work as part of our administrative team. The Clergy Assistant works closely with the clergy and is an integral member of Temple Sinai’s dynamic, caring, and collaborative staff team. An ideal candidate is personable, dedicated, able to operate with discretion and attention to detail, collaborative and proactive.

 

About you:

You have 3 or more years of office experience, ideally in the nonprofit or Jewish professional world.

  • You are enthusiastic about being part of a high functioning and collaborative team, while being able to work independently. 
  • You possess the organizational and computer skills required to effectively engage with fellow staff, congregants, and vendors using various modes of communication.
  • You are detail oriented, have a problem-solving and can-do attitude, and are oriented towards customer service and professionalism for congregants. 
  • You are able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Facility with Microsoft Office and Google Drive is required. Experience in ShulCloud or other database management software is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Jewish holidays and lifecycle events, and reading/decoding Hebrew are a plus. 

 

What you will do:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the office of the clergy, including answering the phones, handling email and print correspondence, scheduling, ordering supplies, creating and filling out certificates, making copies, submitting payroll for Clergy department, and managing the master schedule of prayer services. 
  • Administer the B'nai Mitzvah program, including creating study materials for each new student, arranging group classes, setting up individual weekly appointments for students with Rabbi and Cantor, and helping families fill out honors forms.
  • Provide administrative support for Shabbat services, including putting together weekly Sheloshim, Yahrzeit and Mi Shebeirach lists, printing Shabbat handout, printing weekly Torah and Haftarah portions and b’nai mitzvah info sheets.
  • Support High Holy Day services, including sending and tracking honors invitations, creating, printing and cutting tickets, setting up and printing the Book of Remembrance and helping with printing of the High Holy Day booklet.
  • Provide administrative support for lifecycle events such as weddings, funerals, shivas, and baby namings; maintain and update lifecycle information on our membership database (ShulCloud) and Google Drive.

 

This is a full-time, in-person position that reports to the Senior Rabbi. 

 

Compensation: $50,000 per year.
