Position Summary

The SVP is the CMO’s “right hand” and operational complement—an experienced communications leader who is both highly creative and deeply operational. This leader will oversee four integrated verticals (Events, Brand/Creative, Digital, and Stewardship), ensuring that strategies, calendars, resources, and deliverables work in harmony to elevate the Foundation’s brand, accelerate donor engagement, and advance revenue outcomes.

The ideal candidate pairs editorial/creative acumen with rigorous logistics, process design, and team leadership—amplifying a visionary CMO by translating vision into disciplined execution.

Location

New York, NY (Hybrid; 4 days/week in-office)

Compensation

Salary Range: $220,000-$250,000

FLSA: Exempt

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Logistics

  • Manage and mentor team leads for Events, Brand/Creative, Digital, and Stewardship, setting priorities, performance metrics, and professional development plans.

  • Oversee department-wide operations, including workflow design, production schedules, and integrated calendars to ensure alignment across all verticals.

  • Manage the annual marketing and communications budget, including allocations for each team, monitoring spend, and implementing cost controls.

  • Partner with Finance to provide accurate forecasts, variance analysis, and ROI reporting; identify opportunities for efficiencies without compromising quality.

  • Establish and enforce processes, systems, and tools for project management, vendor engagement, and compliance to maintain operational excellence.

  • Work closely with Development and Institutional Advancement to support fundraising creative and events needs, including timelines and messaging.

  • Collaborate with regional fundraisers to tailor assets; ensure collateral ordering and distribution are streamlined and brand-consistent.

  • Help BRIF reach its highest potential by supporting our efforts to strengthen workplace culture, including a focus on helping to recruit top talent to join the organization.

Events

  • Oversee the Events team responsible for planning and executing national and regional programs, donor missions, and signature gatherings.

  • Oversee development of comprehensive event strategies that align with fundraising objectives and brand standards, integrating mission-driven storytelling into event programming to deepen donor engagement.

  • Ensure flawless execution of logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, run-of-show, staffing, and contingency planning.

  • Establish post-event evaluation processes to measure impact, ROI, and donor satisfaction; use insights to refine future events.

Brand & Creative

  • Lead the Brand/Creative team in maintaining and evolving brand voice, messaging frameworks, and visual identity across all channels.

  • Oversee development of high-quality creative assets, including print collateral, video, photography, and digital content.

  • Chair creative reviews to ensure consistency, accessibility, and alignment with organizational values.

Digital

  • Guide the Digital team in managing the organization’s website, email marketing, social media platforms, and analytics systems.

  • Drive strategies for audience growth, engagement, and conversion through SEO, SEM, paid media, and marketing automation.

  • Implement data-driven decision-making by establishing dashboards and KPIs for traffic, engagement, and donor conversion.

Stewardship

  • Direct the Stewardship team to design and execute a comprehensive donor engagement plan that reinforces impact and gratitude.

  • Develop segmented strategies for major donors, recurring donors, and new prospects, ensuring tailored messaging and timely touchpoints.

  • Coordinate production of impact reports, personalized updates, and recognition materials to strengthen donor relationships.

  • Align stewardship efforts with Development’s moves management process to support cultivation and retention goals.

  • Monitor effectiveness through engagement metrics and donor feedback; adjust strategies to maximize loyalty and lifetime value.

Qualifications

  • 10–12+ years in integrated communications/marketing, including 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams and managers.

  • Demonstrated ability to run complex event portfolios, creative production (editorial + design), and digital programs with measurable outcomes.

  • Strong creative sensibility (brand voice, narrative craft, visual judgment) and operational excellence (process, resourcing, vendor/budget management).

  • Fluency in analytics and marketing technology; adept at KPI setting and insight translation.

  • Experience in sales or nonprofit fundraising communications and investor/customer/donor stewardship preferred.

  • Passion for Birthright Israel’s mission and comfort representing the organization’s values to donors and partners.
