Shomrai Preschool, an Orthodox Jewish preschool in Silver Spring, part of Young Israel Shomrai Emunah Congregation, is currently looking for an Administrative Assistant. At Shomrai Preschool we are committed to the spiritual, educational, emotional and physical development of each and every one of our precious students. Our program is designed for children ages 2 - 5 years old and uses current and research-based educational practices. We are committed to working with every individual child to maximize their joy, curiosity, and potential during these significant years of exponential growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Year-round full-time position, working on the preschool and day camp
  • Reporting to the preschool director, support day-to-day operations
  • Manage registration, invoicing, and payments for all students
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of student attendance
  • Submit and track all government voucher invoices and payments
  • Assist in running payroll for staff
  • Respond to phone, e-mail, and web-based inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment functions and report requirements to the General
  • Manager promptly to ensure operational efficiency
  • Provides secretarial support such as typing, filing, duplicating and distributing copies
  • May be asked to assist in classrooms when short-staffed
  • Other duties as assigned by the director

Qualifications

  • Minimum Associates Degree (required)
  • 2-3 years administrative experience (required)
  • 1-2 years experience working with children (preferred)
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Google Docs and Excel
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with grant writing a plus
  • Familiarity with government voucher programs (CCS, WPA) a plus
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and customs (preferred)
