Job Title: Executive Director

Location: Congregation Brith Sholom, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 

Position Type: Part-Time (16 to 20 hours/week)

Reports To: President of the Board of Trustees

Overview:

The Executive Director of Congregation Brith Sholom serves as the administrative leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the synagogue. This role requires a deep commitment to the values and mission of the Jewish faith, strong leadership skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with clergy, staff, and congregants.

Given that this is a part time position, the work schedule can be flexible.

Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative Leadership:
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership in the implementation of synagogue goals and objectives.
    • Oversee all administrative functions including finance, human resources, facilities management, and technology.
    • Assist in the development and manage annual budgets in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and the Treasurer. 
    • Represent the synagogue in the broader community to build relationships and partnerships.
  1. Congregational Engagement:
    • Serve as a liaison between congregants and clergy to address concerns and facilitate communication.
  1. Fundraising and Development:
    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the financial stability and growth of the synagogue.
  1. Staff Supervision and Development:
    • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members, fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and excellence.
    • Conduct performance evaluations.Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations and maintain a safe and respectful work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in nonprofit management, synagogue administration, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding and appreciation of Jewish culture, traditions, and values.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising is preferred.
