YOUTH GROUP LEADER

 Position Summary

The Youth Group Advisor will provide support, leadership, and community for our youth, grades 8-12. In this position, the Advisor will serve as a role model to participants and staff in his/her attitude and behavior. The function of this position is to foster social, spiritual, educational, and social action programming for the youth of Congregation Adas Emuno. All youth programming activities should enable students to develop and deepen their connections to Judaism, other Jewish youth, and the local community. He/she will follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures and communicate regularly with the parent and Board liaison to promote events. Candidates must have the flexibility to attend meetings and to participate in weekend events. This is a part-time position effective while students are in Religious School from September- May, with the possibility to extend annually. The position may also require some groundwork and expectation-setting toward the end of the summer in preparation for the year to come, also utilizing lessons learned from the prior year.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Youth Group Advisor will plan and implement creative programs, engage our students, and increase participation in programming. He/She will specifically be responsible for the following:

  1. Administer, plan, lead, and organize age-appropriate youth group programming and activities.
  2. Devise and administer program activities that emphasize Jewish meaningful experiences including worship experiences, social events, social action programs, and educational activities.
  3. Prepare a proposed calendar of events.
  4. Plan and set agenda for monthly meetings with the Rabbi, parent and Board liaison.
  5. Maintain correspondence and communication with Youth Group Students And parents. 
  6. Travel with youth groups when attending events and serve as an authority figure., coordinating additional chaperones as needed.
  7. Be a Jewish role model for the students.
  8. Articulate marketing needs to Board liaison and participate in creation of materials.
  9. Devise programs and activities to ensure members feel included in Temple life.
  10. Proactively responds to phone calls, inquiries, or concerns in regards to efforts regarding youth programs.
  11. Track participation and report successes following events. 
  12. Coordinate the purchase of supplies for Youth Group activities. 
  13. Arrange for appropriate adult supervision/volunteers as needed.

 Maintain financial records and keep expenditures within budget
