Temple Menorah is a traditional Zionist congregation with 400 member families located in Miami Beach, Florida. In our 75-year history we have had two Senior Rabbis. Now, after a 38-year tenure our Rabbi is retiring, and we are seeking a spiritual leader to guide us into the future.

Our congregation is unique in South Florida – it includes a variety of Jewish and world cultures, senior members as well as young families and singles with different religious, educational and spiritual needs. Our next Senior Rabbi should have a deep commitment to Jewish values and traditions, be an energetic, enthusiastic leader who can inspire and connect with congregants of multiple backgrounds, and be an advocate for our temple and the Jewish people.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Bimah, Pastoral and lifecycle duties, leading daily, Shabbat and holiday religious services, support to members during lifecycle events, delivering relevant, inspiring sermons, and reading Torah, Haftorah and Megillot as needed;
  • Synagogue outreach, membership development and fundraising, and serving as an ambassador in the community at large;
  • Religious education for youth and adult members, mentoring conversion candidates, leadership and guidance in all matters pertaining to halacha;
  • Promote and support Zionist values, fostering connection with the State of Israel;
  • Synagogue administration and working with our Board of Directors and committees to develop and implement policies and programs.

 

Qualifications

  • Rabbinical ordination from an accredited program or seminary
  • Lead by example in living a traditional mitzvah observant lifestyle
  • Deep understanding of Jewish history, laws, traditions, and customs
  • High personal, ethical, and professional standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, empathetic, patient, and approachable
  • Congregational experience is a plus, but recent graduates with relevant skills will be considered
