At Am Shalom, our Education Team is responsible for all youth programming, both "formal" and "informal." We view this as an integrated program, and all members have roles in all our programming. 

  • “Informal:” work with our Director of Youth Engagement (DYE) to coordinate youth programming for students in grades K-12.
  • “Formal:” primarily administrative and organizational capacity, with opportunities for teaching/tutoring based on skills/ability.

We are looking for a team member who will become an active part of all aspects of our education and youth programs, helping to develop all of our integrated programming for K-12.

Position Requires: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Passion for working in the Jewish community
  • Experience with children’s programming, after-school programming, summer camp or classroom teaching
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Ability to thrive working independently and on a team 
  • General computer knowledge. Zoom, Microsoft suite & Google suite preferred; ShulCloud a bonus!
  • Proven dependability, teamwork, leadership skills and enthusiasm 
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events as required
  • Sense of humor

Responsibilities will include (in coordination with our DYE, and based on skills and interests)

With our Director of Youth Engagement, oversee the Youth Group for K-12 grades (and supervising staff as necessary)

  • Get to know and connect with Am Shalom youth. 
  • Plan and implement programs for all ages, including administrative tasks
  • Maintain Youth Lounge
  • Interface with parents for purposes of publicity and recruitment

School Responsibilities:

  • Serve as additional full-time team member in our Education staff
  • Assist with administrative work such as communications, calendar, school administration
  • Get to know students and families
  • Assist with school-wide projects (Purim Carnival notably)
  • There is potential for teaching and tutoring work in addition, based on skill and ability
  • Be present at all religious school/Hebrew school sessions and events (such as Family Shabbat, Tot Shabbat, and holiday events)
