Leave Replacement for Middle School Judaic Studies

Beginning after Pesach, 5/6/2024 through 6/18/2024

 

Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County is a warm, inclusive Jewish Day School that educates children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade with a vigorous dual curriculum in General and Judaic studies. We inspire our students to be engaged, independent learners who embrace Jewish values and practices and strive with confidence and compassion to better the world.

We are looking for a Judaic Studies Leave Replacement from May 6 - June 18, 2024. Candidates will be role models who can help foster our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, implement a variety of instructional strategies, and who have familiarity with the latest educational models to enhance student learning for the 21st century.

 The ideal candidate has:

  • An interest in teaching in a collaborative team teaching model
  • Degree in Secondary Education
  • At least 3 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher
  • A deep understanding of effective instruction and content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of child development and how social emotional factors impact learning
  • An ability to build relationships with students that foster a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and take academic risks
  • A belief that all children can learn at high levels with the appropriate supports
  • An understanding that parents are our partners in supporting the learning of each child

 Schechter Bergen Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Lesson plans will be provided to teach: Humash, TaNakh, Rabbinics and Hagim.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records of evidence of students learning
  • Communicate regularly with parents through emails, and phone calls to discuss students' individual learning progress, sharing successes and working in partnership to enhance student development
  • Engage with fellow educators in team meetings to continuously learn and grow as an educator

Salary range: $200.00-$250.00 per day, commensurate with experience
