Description

The Cherry Hill School seeks a highly qualified individual to direct and teach Jewish studies and Hebrew at a private Jewish day school in El Paso Texas.  Ideally this individual would have the skills to teach music and theater as well.  We are looking for a warm, energetic, creative individual to take the lead role in continuing to enhance and develop our Jewish studies and Hebrew programs.

 Duties Would Include

  • Working with the school staff in curriculum related to Jewish values, holidays and culture.
  • Developing curriculum related to parshat shavout, prayer, Hebrew writing, reading and conversation.
  • Developing and directing school plays
  • Teaching Jewish studies, Hebrew and music
  • Direct weekly shabbat celebrations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching certificate a plus
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Proficiency in Hebrew
  • Ability to accompany on guitar or piano a plus
  • Experience teaching music, musical instruments and/or theater is also a plus
  • Deep understanding of Jewish customs, religious practices and culture

TCHS is a private Jewish school that offers a holistic educational experience as the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and being a good person. Our unique and nurturing learning environment services Jewish families and those from all religious backgrounds in the El Paso/Juarez region.  At The Cherry Hill School, children gain the confidence, knowledge and skills that they need to make a difference in our world.

TCHS currently serves 48 students in 1st through 5th grade.  The school will be expanding to 8th grade, starting with the addition of 6th grade for the 2024-25 school year. Our education program is structured around core Jewish values, offering Hebrew and Judaic instruction, and a constructivist-based curriculum. TCHS is also a STEM accredited campus with instructional experiences that center around project-based learning, language arts acquisition, and the arts. Our classroom environments are Reggio-inspired and designed to nurture intellectual collaboration and social-emotional development. We have an active board that includes education specialists and a well-developed parental involvement program to provide support to the administration. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
