Congregation Bet Haverim (CBH) is a Reform synagogue located in Davis, California. We have 275 member families. Our office team members each wear multiple hats in our very busy office. We need a creative, tech savvy, and motivated individual who has outstanding grammar, editing, and time management skills. The responsibilities are diverse and include assisting visitors (post COVID) and answering telephones and emails. This will be a hybrid Zoom and in person position to start.
This will be a part-time position, 15-20 hours per week.
Skills required are strong computer skills, organization and flexibility to adapt as the synagogue changes and grows, integrity with sensitive information and strong communication skills.
A top priority for working in this position requires that this individual will keep confidential information and be courteous and tactful under any circumstance, exhibiting patience and kindness to everyone. Must be a self-starter and be able to step in and help wherever needed. Must be able to prioritize due to frequent interruptions. Will report to the Executive Director.
Duties for this position include:
• Answer and handle incoming calls as needed
• Handle the incoming and outgoing emails for the CBH office
• Maintaining on-line calendar
• Managing a volunteer program
• Maintaining flyers, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Publisher documents and posters
• Maintaining vendor relationships, supplies and ordering, contracts
• Filing as needed
• Support rabbi, board of directors, and executive staff as needed
• Assisting with coordination of events, High Holidays, Passover Seder, programs on Zoom, in person or in a hybrid environment
• Assist the Leadership Staff in various projects as needed
• Regular communication with members
• Create flyers for special events as needed
• Run errands as needed
• Maintain office supplies inventory
• Flexible schedule, with availability first Tuesday of each month 10:30am-Noon for Zoom all staff meetings
• Driver's License (Required)
• Qualifications:
• · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365, Outlook, Google Drive/Docs, Access, WordPress, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
· Desire and ability to learn new processes
· Self-motivated and comfortable collaborating and working independently
· Manage external and internal calendars
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
· Strong interpersonal skills and customer service experience
· High level of personal and professional integrity
· Knowledge of Jewish rituals and culture a plus
