Part Time Finance Manager

Overview
Temple Sinai’s Finance Manager is responsible for the financial record keeping and reporting for the synagogue, serving as the primary financial liaison to the Treasurer, Budget Committee and Board of Trustees. She/he performs the full range of functions needed to ensure a strong financial operation. Responsibilities include basic, hands-on bookkeeping, assisting with budgeting and financial planning, preparing financial reports, and handling financial administrative aspects of human resources. Direct interaction with members in response to financial questions. 18-20 hours per week.

Remote work location, but regular on-site visits are required.

It is important that our Finance Manager
• is able to work independently, establish priorities, take initiative and meet deadlines
• is organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task
• maintains complete confidentiality about temple members and synagogue matters
• has accurate and comprehensive bookkeeping skills
• has expert knowledge of QuickBooks-on-Line
• knowledge of ShulCloud preferable, but will train
• minimum 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping role

Duties Include:

• Monitor internal controls, cash management and related matters.
• Maintains financial records in accordance with standard bookkeeping requirements
• Assist the Budget Committee in the preparation of the annual budget
• Monitor the collection of membership financial commitments and assist with arranging for dues abatements for members requiring them
• Respond directly to member inquiries and requests for financial information in a sympathetic and supportive manner
• Full cycle bookkeeping duties including accounts payable and receivable
• Input and reconcile bank and credit card transactions
• Pay bills under direction of the Executive Director
• prepare routine and end-of-year donation receipts and monthly statements
• Synch and adjust journal entries with ShulCloud membership software database
• Prepare and file form 1099-NEC
• Prepare Workers Compensation annual reconciliations
• Process and track all donations
• Monitor and manage expenses within the established budget
• Perform monthly conciliations in QuickBooks
• Maintain and update chart of accounts
• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger

Perform other financial and record keeping tasks as required

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field, preferred
5 years of relevant bookkeeping experience
Experience in non-profits preferred
Proficient with Excel
