Associate Director, 6 Points Sports Academy

Overview and purpose:

The Union for Reform Judaism is seeking an experienced Associate Director to help grow, operate, and lead 6 Points Sports Academy’s overall program during the summer – and year-round towards achieving its mission and vision.

Serving as a key partner to the Camp Director at URJ 6 Points Sports Academy, the Associate Director will help create and implement a strategy of achieving sustainable excellence by focusing on the creation and implementation of operational systems and processes. The Associate Director will oversee the operational staff, supporting the ongoing recruitment and retention of campers by managing our prospect management efforts and leading our recruitment team. They will also oversee our community care efforts during the summer.

The Associate Director will be in residence at URJ 6 Points Sports Academy during the summer months. This is a flexible position.

You are a programmer and supervisor, and an effective recruiter of campers and staff. You are detail-oriented, do not shy away from hard work, and are comfortable with the latest technology. You can thrive in a fast-paced environment that values team players and hard workers.

Key Functions:

Supervision and Leadership
Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance for full-time 6 Points Sports Academy staff team
Partner with Camp Director in creating summer supervision plan and maintain oversight of staff in the community care department
At all times, maintain a complete and consistent presence as a leader within the community with respect to role modeling of institutional principles and Jewish values, supervision and accountability for all rules and procedures, and dedication in all respects to the organization’s mission and vision.
Serve as a member of the 6 Points’ professional team and partner with colleagues on projects.
Assist in any and all areas of 6 Points Sports Academy’s management where you have valuable insight and experience to contribute.
Recruitment and Retention of Year-Round Program Participants and Campers
Partner with Camp Director in setting strategy to meet and hopefully exceed recruitment goals for all programs and sessions throughout the summer including local, regional, and North American gatherings. Coordinate and hold the staff team accountable for these efforts.
Develop and implement the strategy for congregational partnerships and schedule, coordinate, and facilitate impactful and effective congregational visits throughout North America, home visits/parlor meetings, tours of camp, and other marketing and recruitment efforts.
Coordinate partnership with regional camps and other URJ summer programs with regard to holistic recruitment efforts

Recruitment and Retention of Staff
Partner with Director in setting strategy to meet and hopefully exceed recruitment and retention goals.
Support the Assistant Directors in the recruitment, marketing, and hiring of staff members, and the development of training and orientation
Supervise staff working on intake processes, including contracting, health forms, background checks, etc.

Partner with Director in the creation and implementation of professional development for full-time team members
Communication with families
Partner with Director in setting strategy to meet and hopefully exceed communication excellence and standards.
Create, write, and execute the year-round communication plan.
Execute all written communications with families at the camp.
Compliance and Operations
Lead the creation and execution of policies and procedures and supervise staff to ensure 6 Points Sports Academy complies with ACA standards, URJ standards, and other state and municipal regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
Accountable and responsible for the day-to-day operation of camp in the Camp Director’s absence.
Serve as a member of the URJ Youth System’s camp cohorts and its North American staffing team. Whenever possible, provide support and assistance to North American efforts and initiatives of the URJ Youth System and the URJ in general, and play an active, visible role on the regional and North American scene. This will include opportunities for professional development and training

Qualifications and experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in a relevant field
Ideal candidate has prior senior management and leadership experience (residential camping management experience a plus)
Experience as a successful business partner understanding organizational implications of all decisions
Proven experience working successfully in team-based settings
Highly developed administrative skills, including the ability to move projects with various stakeholders forward with appropriate priorities
Knowledge of and commitment to the Reform Jewish movement and institutions
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Motivated to stay current in the areas of culture, teen issues, child development, Jewish education, etc.
Passion for sports is a huge plus!

This position is currently Remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
