Senior Manager of Donor Engagement

The Senior Manager of Donor Engagement (SMDE) will, with oversight by the Senior Director of Philanthropy (SDP), be responsible for developing the overall strategy of donor engagement, including (but not limited to): Signature events, giving circle(s), professional affinity group(s), and any other related engagement opportunities to maximize the financial resources raised. The SMDE will work closely with the development and community partnerships teams to ensure that donors are connected to their philanthropic interests and the organization’s priorities. The Senior Manager of Donor Engagement will also solicit, cultivate and steward a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects.
• Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of mid-level donors ($1K-$9,999K)
• Oversee events calendar with Development and Events Manager (DEM) to ensure a balance and reasonable calendar of donor engagement opportunities
• Oversee National Young Leadership Cabinet (NYLC) portfolio and recruitment
• Create and implement Ben Gurion Society (BGS) giving program and/or other young adult giving groups
• Create and implement strategy for giving circle(s), professional affinity groups, and any other opportunities to deepen existing or new donors’ connections to Federation
• Work closely with SDP and other Federation team members to identify prospects and opportunities for increased donor engagement opportunities, including through leadership programming
• Evaluate ways for engagement groups to partner and/or provide natural movement from one group to another
• Effectively utilize Federation’s donor management system to manage, track, and report on all aspects of donor relationships
• Work closely with all professionals and lay leaders involved in signature events, major gifts events, and (as needed) Women’s Philanthropy related events
• Oversee and track engagement budget with SDP and DEM
• Supervises Development and Events Manager who oversees all organizational events and works closely with volunteers & lay leaders
• 5-7 years of experience with managing donor engagement, events or similar environment
Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that will guide annual donor engagement efforts
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with lay leaders and committee volunteers
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff
• Proficiency with fundraising database administration and management is helpful, knowledge of Blackbaud CRM a plus
• Flexible perspective – ability to work with processes and systems that are evolving and subject to change
• Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions
• Strong oral and written communication skills that will support donor stewardship strategies and organization-wide marketing efforts
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate across department and organizational boundaries, influence the decision of others, and deal effectively with multiple “customers” including department heads, volunteer leaders, donors, trustees and others
• Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
• Proficiency with MS Office Applications – Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
• Knowledge of the Jewish community, customs and traditions, including knowledge of Israel
