Job Title: Youth Engagement Specialist
Reports to: Director of Havayah

Temple Beth Elohim is a vibrant, active, warm, and welcoming Reform congregation rooted in Jewishspirituality, learning, caring and strong community. We are currently searching for an innovative,organized and dynamic individual to join our Learning team. This full-time position has a strong focus on experiential education, social justice and youth engagement with the opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative and creative environment.

A love of working with children, pre-teens and teens;
Strong work ethic, highly organized, project management and leadership skills;
Energetic, engaging, creative, passionate and flexible;
Passionate about social justice and able to lead by example;
Leadership experience in Jewish experiential education and/or camping (preferred);
Ability to develop, foster and sustain meaningful relationships;
Interest in learning and growing as a Jewish educational professional;
Comfort using online learning tools to create engaging experiences;
Passionate about teaching and modeling Jewish values and practices with children of all ages and adults;
Ability to successfully handle multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively with a team in a
fast-paced environment;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
Access to a car and a clean driving record.

This is a full-time position with regular evening and weekend work (including some Shabbats and Jewish
Holidays) expected throughout the academic year. This position offers the opportunity for a 10 or 12
month contract.

Core Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities will be tailored to the individual skills and passions of the successful candidate, and
the needs of the congregation, and may include:
Work collaboratively with the Learning Team;
Coordinate the Ma’asim Tovim program - the 6-7 grade volunteer service work and learning;
Teach in our grade 6-12 learning programs;
Support our Youth Groups events K-12;
Support our teen leadership board and developing leaders;
With other learning team members, lead outreach and relationship-building: meet kids where they are,
and guide them on their individual Jewish Journeys;
Support and staff Shul-ins and Shabbatonim for grades 4-12.Partner with Associate Rabbi and VP of Tikkun Olam to implement TBE’s Tikkun Olam vision, initiatives
and programs.
Collaborate with Tikkun Olam lay-leaders to realize their passions, support their efforts to repair the
world and integrate Tikkun Olam into the TBE Community
Support TBE’s community organizing efforts
Support and connect congregants seeking to engage their Tikkun Olam passions within our community
Attend Tikkun Olam committee meetings when staff representative is needed
Attend administrative staff meetings to support Tikkun Olam initiatives, if needed and as schedule
Partner with members of clergy and learning teams to integrate Tikkun Olam initiatives into the life of
the congregation
Attend weekly program staff and learning team meetings
