Position Summary:
The Northern Westchester Community Development Executive will be responsible for advancing the UJA campaign, increasing the donor base and strengthening communities in the North. The position will require responsibilities for community and regional initiatives. and working with committees.

Major Responsibilities:
Fundraising and donor development
• Expand the Young Families initiative in the North working with lay and professional leadership. This includes implementing a development plan for Northern Young Families. Participate on Westchester professionals Young Families team.
• Develop and implement appropriate fundraising strategies to increase the donor base and dollars raised for the annual campaign, as well as planned gifts and special initiatives.
• Employ a variety of fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitations, fundraising events, door openers, phone, written and social media communications.
• Educate donors and prospects about the mission of UJA-Federation through educational programs, hands-on projects, agency visits, and missions.
• Support and educate lay leaders on the work of UJA-Federation of New York so they can serve as ambassadors for UJA-Federation.
• Train and learn to utilize the UJA fundraising system and the various reports and other tools to accomplish the fundraising goals.

Donor Cultivation
• Identify viable prospects through outreach and engagement strategies and relationship-building.
• Maintain records of donor portfolio through our fundraising system and evaluate progress regularly with supervisor.
• Collaborate with lay and professional partners to develop and implement and create new strategies, programs, and initiatives.
• Stay current on donors in portfolio as well as philanthropic trends. This includes reading newspapers, trade publications, journals, and other related materials.

Events
• Partner with the Director of Northern Westchester Campaign to Develop community-wide and more intimate fundraising and community outreach events, working with event manager and marketing team.
• Help organize site visits to agencies, volunteer activities, and missions as appropriate.
• Involve, educate and develop lay leadership strategically for the various communities in Northern Westchester that are part of the portfolio.
• Provide necessary professional support to the Young Families board and be a support professional for the wider Northern Women's Board. This includes agenda setting, preparing reports and presentations, writing meeting notes, and providing necessary follow-up.
• Provide support as needed at regional events and programs, including fundraising, journal preparation, and working with event managers and marketing.
• Develop and implement a plan for post-event (divisional/boutique) follow-up, including calling and meeting with donors.

Collaborations
• Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with Northern Director and Westchester colleagues and other fundraising divisions to develop and implement strategies involving northern donors across divisional lines.
• Work in collaboration with professionals in other divisions, affinities, and regions as appropriate.

Additional First-Year Activities
• Work with the Northern Director and other colleagues to learn best practices for solicitation meetings to help enhance effective communication of UJA-Federation’s case for giving.
• Attend mandatory training programs throughout the first year (e.g., Learning Institutes, site visits).
• Participate in organization wide activities.
• Develop and implement a plan for post-event (divisional/boutique) follow-up, including calling and meeting with donors.

Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two-plus years of post-college knowledge and previous experience in fundraising and/or related areas including personal solicitations preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, writing skills and customer service orientation.
• Knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community and passion for UJA-Federation’s mission.
• Team player with the ability to multitask.
• Strong communication skills
• Entrepreneurial self-starter
