For more than 50 years, the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona has served as our community's coordinating body for fundraising, planning, and communal services.
Through a network of affiliated agencies, they help individuals and families, the old and the young, the unemployed, the homeless, the sick, the poor, and those who are persecuted or oppressed.

The Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of Southern Arizona at the Center for Jewish Philanthropy (CJP) seek a Vice President of Strategy & Community Impact to serve on their senior leadership team. This professional will work cross-departmentally in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The VP will convene key stakeholders to address communal needs and set priorities to achieve short and long-term organizational and community-wide priorities. Successful candidates will bring broad experience in strategic planning, community building, change management, impact measurement, volunteer management, and professional management in Jewish and/or non-Jewish community-based organizations.
Strategic planning, goal setting, and impact measurement

Work with CEO, COO, senior leadership, and Board to set organizational goals and partner with department heads internally to achieve strategic vision
Create and oversee organizational dashboard that demonstrates progress toward goal attainment, milestones and outcomes reached
Advance the Community Planning and vision process and associated work, with a focus on community-wide outcomes, implementation and, measurement / evaluation of impact
Convene key stakeholders and special task forces, as needed, to address priority issues in the Jewish community
Partner with professionals and volunteers to ensure the distribution of grant and/or allocation funds are aligned with strategic priorities and outcomes
Conduct ongoing evaluations of programs and services to assess impact and effectiveness, including recommendations to bring strategic vision forward
Support community agencies, partners, and beneficiary organizations in building their capacity, with a focus on strategic planning, community collaboration, Board governance, fundraising / development, and program evaluation
Provide similar support for internal capacity building, with a focus on effective and efficient service delivery and change management to meet new strategic vision
Partner with senior organizational leadership in developing internal goals, strategies, and tactics to achieve strategic vision
Create, facilitate, and assess effective and engaging educational curriculums and trainings
Board and Volunteer Management
Serve as a primary community liaison; oversee select community-based groups, with a focus on strengthening external relations with Southern Arizona’s Jewish organizations and congregations
Serve as the lead staff person for the Jewish Community Roundtable and Synagogue/Federation Dialogue, when convened.
Develop a robust volunteer engagement strategy to align with Community Planning priorities and outcomes and meaningfully engage diverse stakeholders
Partner with CEO and COO on Board development and engagement
Staff Board committees or task forces to achieve strategic plan and capacity building goals
Program & Staff Oversight
Manage and mentor professional team and recruit, train, and retain talent
Develop a refined program strategy, with a focus on intersections and collaborations with partner organizations and impact measurement.
Provide oversight for the Weintraub Israel Center (WIC), a joint partnership of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona (JFSA) and the Tucson Jewish Community Center (JCC) – with the JCC increasingly becoming the ‘lead partner’.
Supervise the activities formerly under the banner of the ‘Coalition for Jewish Education,’ which provides youth, adult and community-wide Jewish educational opportunities, including our beloved work with PJ Library, religious school students with Special Needs, and March of the Living, among others.
Supervise and coordinate activities of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), which addresses those in need, government relations, Holocaust education, Border issues, Jewish Latino Teen Coalition, public school relations, hate crime, etc.
Establish and manage budgets and oversee accurate projections of income and expenditures, reporting quarterly to CEO, COO, and Board.

Curriculum development and hands on experience as an educator or trainer

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness
Creative problem solver and strategic thinker
Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, experience in Jewish community organizations is preferred
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
Strong professionalism and ability to adapt quickly
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse staff and stakeholders
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and capacity to learn recent technologies
Handles confidential information with discretion
Desire to mentor and develop staff and serve as a thought partner to senior leaders
Available to work some evening and weekend hours
Access to reliable transportation and a clean driving record
