Ben Porat Yosef (BPY) seeks a dynamic, engaging, and growth-minded leader to become its Director of Development. Working alongside the Head of school, the Development Committee, and other trustees, the Director of Development will lead development strategy and be responsible for the overall strategic direction of all fundraising activities for BPY, including sustaining and increasing the school’s broad-based annual campaign, cultivating and stewarding major donors, and leading the school’s annual gala and its community-wide, year-end event. The successful candidate must have an authentic passion for BPY’s mission and demonstrated success in development strategy and operations. They must be a highly articulate communicator skilled at making a compelling case for school support. The Director of Development will report to and work closely with the Head of School and will serve on the senior administration team.
Essential responsibilities include:
Work with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to develop a multi-pronged fundraising strategy that will generate short-term results as well as sustainable long-term growth that includes ways to deepen and diversify philanthropic support.
Direct the annual campaign program: including annual direct mail, several digital appeals throughout the calendar year, and work closely with Annual Campaign Chair to map out solicitation strategies, train/prep campaign ambassadors for solicitations.
Oversee BPY’s Grandparents Association and the several annual events for BPY grandparents and their grandchildren and ensure that the association develops into a cultivation and fundraising tool. Engage and meet regularly with the Association leadership.
Organize and supervise the annual dinner, in cooperation with the lay Development Committee.
Organize and supervise the annual “BPY Walkathon” or similar program - a widespread scholarship funding event
Design and help implement other fundraising events of various sizes and scales, in partnership with the Head of School and lay leaders.
Manage a personal portfolio of prospective donors and deepen existing donor relationships through regular cultivation and communication.
Support the Head of School and board members, and other fundraising volunteers to cultivate and solicit charitable gifts.
Develop and foster a culture and understanding of philanthropy among the BPY parent community and staff
Manage records and correspondences, including all gift processing and tax-receipt / acknowledgements.
Oversee creation of publications to support fundraising activities.
Manage all grant applications and reporting
Lead Board governance, fundraising and strategy, in partnership with Head of School.

Experience with a donor management database system.

Demonstrated project management and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/campaigns in a fast-paced environment, sometimes with competing deadlines.
