If you are a warm, friendly and organized person who thrives in an occasionally hectic, but joyful office environment, and you have great communication and organizational skills, which can have a meaningful impact, please consider applying to join our team.
Congregation Beth El, Berkeley’s progressive Reform Congregation since 1945, seeks our next Front Office Administrator. This is a part-time reception, office administration and support position, working with a fun, warm and talented team.
Candidates who are highly adaptable, calm under pressure when competing demands and priorities arise are encouraged to apply.
More than 500 households rely on the congregation for worship, community, preschool care, after school education, summer camp and a wide range of additional programming throughout the year. This position is a key staff member and often serves as the welcoming face of Beth El. Equally important is the administrative role this position plays.
As the City of Berkeley and state’s shelter-in-place order has been lifted, we currently utilize a scalable, moderate approach for operational staffing. The synagogue is currently open with limited worship services, programming, and visitor access.
Candidates should have experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a membership organization or similar institution. You must have excellent communication and office skills. Experience with Google applications (Calendar, Gmail, Google Docs), Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and membership/CRM databases.
Answer phones in a professional and courteous manner, transfer calls to the appropriate colleague. Intentional, active listening is key in order to direct calls and messages.
