Coastside Jewish Community, a 65-family community south of San Francisco (serving Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and ‘The Coastside’), is seeking a part-time Jewish Youth Educator for its Religious School, a.k.a. ‘CJC Family Circle’.
We seek an energetic, motivated, and personable individual who aims to make a positive impact in the lives of our youth and families. We would like to find an individual who conveys enthusiasm for Jewish life and possesses knowledge about Judaism, while being inclusive to all our families.
The Jewish Youth Educator is responsible for teaching our children in collaboration with our Rabbi, and actively maintaining supportive working relationships with parents and students. There are about 12-15 students in different grade levels (K-5) so lesson plans need to incorporate varying age-appropriate instruction. The Rabbi will be there to assist on most Sundays and parents may be involved, as well.
This is a part-time position requiring the planning and implementation of fun instructional activities every other Sunday morning and the coordination of one CJC Community Shabbat service led by the students at the end of the school year.
We anticipate that most of the sessions will be in-person but online sessions may be included depending on COVID safety or family needs. We will be following all county and state COVID safety policies for in-person sessions. The in-person sessions will be 2.5 hours. Online sessions will be 1 hour. The school year runs from August 29, 2021 to May 22, 2022. Aside from the in-person sessions, all work can be carried out remotely by phone, email and video chat.
The position pays $250 per session, with approximately 20 sessions.
