Grant Research Intern Hebrew Free Loan San Diego
Location: San Diego/Remote Part-time: 5-10 hrs per week
Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego is seeking a volunteer intern to explore Grant research opportunities for this exciting, newly launched non-profit. This is a unique opportunity for an individual wanting to experience and learn about the grant funding, writing and planning activities in a non-profit organization. Being on the ground floor of HFLSD would enable the intern to both discover the foundations, corporate and government funders who focus on assisting the Jewish community and individuals and families in need of emergency relief; and will further help HFLSD foster its mission of having a lasting impact on the lives of our San Diego community! There is flexibility in the hours, location and the position can be done remotely. HFLSD can offer course credit for this opportunity.
HFLSD is a newly launched non-profit whose goal is to help people with temporary financial needs to become or remain self-supporting through access to interest-free loans: we provide loans and promise dignity! HFLSD is part of the International Association of Jewish Free Loans, whose mission is to aid local Jewish households living in poverty or who are financially insecure overcome financial needs/emergencies. HFLSD empowers members of the San Diego Jewish Community with a hand-up!
Responsibilities for Grant Research Intern:
-Work closely with the Executive Director to identify through extensive research, the public and private grant and corporate funders of programs that assist religious based and emergency relief programs.
-Assist in initiating contact, documenting guidelines, and developing program summaries for potential funders.
-Assist the Operations Administrator with developing an annual Grant making calendar.
-Work with the multiple Hebrew free Loan Associations nationally to discover the types of grant makers they have accessed to generate potential HFLSD grant opportunities.
Qualifications for Grant Research Intern:
-Undergraduate experience in English or Communications with a keen interest in research/writing.
-Strong research and analytical skills.
-Intellectually curious, detail oriented individual with the ability to prioritize.
-Self motivated and comfortable emailing and telephoning resources to develop relationships with potential grantors.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet search tools to discover, track and document communications.
