Ohev Sholom- The National Synagogue, a vibrant 300-member Modern Orthodox congregation in Washington, DC, is seeking a part-time Shabbat program coordinator to oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of youth programming for Shabbat.
In this position the coordinator will work with clergy, the youth director, and leadership to implement and oversee a set of Shabbat (and holiday) programs across all age ranges (0-18).
Please Note: Candidates should either live within walking distance of the synagogue or be willing to be hosted for Shabbat/Holidays.
-Lead the creation and implementation of Shabbat programming including regular groups, babysitting, special programs, and other ideas to engage kids from babies to teens
-In collaboration with staff and volunteers, create and manage regular Shabbat morning group programming (duplicate of above)
-Provide training to part time staff (including teenagers) and volunteers for Shabbat groups
-Oversee operation of programs during Shabbat, serving as point person for any issues that arise. Be the go-to person for parental contact on Shabbat.
-Direct, and support volunteers and staff, including teenagers, during groups
-Create and implement special programs over the duration of Shabbat, including dinner programs, Shabbat afternoon, and other
-Oversee the bi-monthly kids minyan (“pickle minyan”) in collaboration with clergy
-Bachelors degree or current college student
-Experience working in Jewish education whether camp, school, or synagogue setting
-Experience managing a team of paid and volunteer staff
-Experience creating and delivering youth programming
-Charismatic, welcoming demeanor
