Campers and Staff wear masks at all times (except when eating-- outdoors & at spaced spots). Each group has an assigned indoor room, overflow space, outdoor eating area, and indoor play space. Our counselors co-Lead & guide a Group are part Camp Counselor, part academic support specialist, and part activity guide. Counselors are responsible for leading something active, something hands-on/exploratory, something creative/artsy, are comfortable creating projects.
Ideal candidates have some experience leading classes, excel at managing groups with ease, balance connecting with each camper as an individual while nurturing a unique, fun, and spirited group culture communicates clearly and compassionately with families, campers, and Staff. Candidates possess the flexibility to calmly and maturely respond to changing needs, have a growth mindset, and appreciate the opportunity to implement feedback consistently bring energy, enthusiasm, and spirit to their role.
Assist with the students digital learning-
Create, assist, and enthusiastically participate in another camp programming, including “Fun Friday” activities, programming, and other bonding activities
Be a positive role model who enjoys being with, and providing guidance to, children
Partnering with other counselors to ensure full camper supervision during all scheduled activity blocks, distance learning, meals, and free time
Have a well-developed sense of responsibility with good judgment and common sense because they have a significant impact on each camper’s experience
Orientation & Training Day before start
Starting Pay: $17.00- 20.00/hour (depending on position)
Position January 4-March 26 (potential to continue through June)
General Counselor hours are 8:00 am-3:00 pm (may some required extra hours for Monday morning meetings, a few post-camp meetings, and camp set-up/clean-up days) optional extended day hours
COVID-19 considerations: To mitigate risk, we follow all guidelines from LA County Public Health specifically outlined for child care organizations. Students will stay in small groups for the full session. Masks all day. All sanitization/cleaning requirements met.
Education: High school or equivalent (Minumum)
Experience: Childcare: 1 year (Required)
