Logistics Director


Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Logistics Director is responsible for program and operations logistics, ensuring they are carried out in a timely and efficient manner. In addition, the Logistics Director acts as the driver for camp. The Logistics Director is expected to present themselves with integrity, act as a Dugma Ishit (personal example) in and outside of camp, and is committed to upholding the mission/vision of Camp Young Judaea Midwest.

Responsibilities | The Logistics Director is responsible for…

Collaborating with camp staff, including Israel and Jewish Education Directors, Waterfront and Ropes Directors, Fine Arts and Sports Coordinators to support them in meeting camp-wide programmatic goals

Collecting and assigning responsibility for requisitions and ensure timely fulfillment

Purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment in a cost conscious as well as budget standpoint

Assisting the Program Director in the resolution of scheduling and logistic concerns

Handling petty cash and drivers bags, and organizing all receipts

Preparing for airport and bus transportation on opening and closing days of sessions

Communicating proactively with camp leadership on key matters, including behavioral of campers

Participating in relevant staff training, meetings, and supervisory conferences

Ensuring clean, orderly, and safe activity areas by developing, explaining, and enforcing instructions for all staff on the use of program supplies on camp

Advise program staff in creation of supplies inventory, ordering materials, and end-of-summer cleanup

Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training alongside the Assistant Director

Teach and model proper behavior to tzevet (staff)

Be a positive presence and an advocate for camp wide policy

Perform other duties as assigned

At least 21 years old

Evidence of leadership skill and capacity

Strong background in logistics and operations

Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting

Ability to give & take constructive criticism

A self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision

Management skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, and counsel staff to maximize their skills

A team player, and recognizes the importance of group success

Comfortable managing and working alongside others who have different work styles

Comfortable working with children who have different learning styles
