Leadership Development Manager

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Leadership Development Manager is primarily responsible
for the safe and coordinated implementation of CYJ’s Kadima Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program, as well as the
staff professional development curriculum for Summer 2021. The Leadership Development Manager creates
and implements training and programming for the Kadima CIT program, and professional development modules
for staff. The Leadership Development Manager is expected to present themselves with integrity, act as a
Dugma Ishit (personal example) inside and outside of camp, and is committed to upholding the mission/vision of
Camp Young Judaea Midwest.

Responsibilities | The Leadership Development Manager is responsible for...
? Providing daily training and professional development for CITs
? Providing twice weekly training for camp staff members
? Providing formal and informal feedback to the CITs throughout the summer
? Educating staff in the safe, fun, and educational operation of camp, both during staff training week and
throughout the summer, alongside the Assistant Director, Program Director, and Education Directors
? Communicating proactively with CYJ leadership on key matters, including behavioral and safety matters
? Immediately correct any unsafe practices, reporting any concerns to supervisors and camp leadership
? Act on behalf of Kadima program and staff professional development on issues involving the community
? Ensuring the physical, emotional, and spiritual health, safety, and well-being of the camp community
? Be a presence and an advocate for camp wide policy
? Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications | What we look for in candidates for this job
? Strong background (at least three summers of experience) working with young adults (preference given
to experience in a camp environment)
? Evidence of leadership skill and capacity
? Experience leading and teaching creative activities in a youth development setting
? Experience in training and coaching others in the implementation of safe and creative activities
? Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
? A self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
? Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, manage, and counsel staff to maximize their skills
? A team player, and recognizes the importance of group success
? Comfortable managing and working alongside others who have different work styles
