Summary and Objective:
The Young(ish) Program Manager will help to create and build our engagement strategy, connecting Jewish young adults across the SF-area to one another, our synagogue community and to a meaningful adult Jewish identity.
We are looking for a strategic, enthusiastic people-person with professional experience in the nonprofit, community-building, and/or Jewish community space. This is a temporary, part-time job, but one that will be instrumental in the growth and success of building the next generation of leaders in our community.
WHO WE ARE:
All are welcome! We call ourselves Young(ish) because we are not a defined age group. We are not defined by whether we have a partner or children. Rather, we are young, Jewish professionals who are defined by a desire to be, schmooze, learn, drink, eat and do Jewish together. We’re committed to serving the needs of this community and making young adults a vital part of our inter-generational congregation!
WHO YOU ARE:
The Young(ish) Program Manager will be the relational engagement champion, managing and inspiring Young(ish) as we connect thousands of SF-area young adults to Jewish life, to each other, and to a more meaningful Jewish identity. You will provide leadership to the lay-lead team, guide engagement strategies that best achieve our mission, work with the greater leadership team to build a stronger future for Young(ish) within the Beth Sholom community, and successfully develop your own portfolio of relationships with Jewish young adults.
WE HOPE YOU HAVE:
A knowledge of synagogue life, Jewish practice and holidays, and a familiarity and comfort with Jewish texts
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to take initiative, prioritize and manage time
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Interest and creativity in social media and PR
The ability to think strategically and creatively
Experience managing a budget
Experience working with volunteers and lay leaders
A willingness to work some evenings and occasional Sundays
A willingness to work on the High Holidays and on some of the other Jewish holidays
Comfort and joy in a Conservative, egalitarian community
