Community & Membership Engagement Coordinator

Beth El Congregation is looking for the right person to help us strengthen connections within our congregation and with the wider community as well as building our family engagement programs and growing our younger membership. About Us:
We are an egalitarian Conservative synagogue in the North Central Phoenix with over 270 member families. We are a growing community with many long-time members and retirees and are wanting to attract new members of all ages. We are a warm and caring community that is socially active, enjoys high-level Jewish learning, and is friendly and inclusive to all. We are involved with many social causes as well, such as response to homelessness, immigrant and refugee families, and criminal justice reform. Our holidays and Shabbat programs allow for a high level of volunteer involvement and member participation. We strive to create a community where everyone feels welcome to engage with Jewish life. Core Responsibilities:
–Work with senior staff to develop a strategy and implement initiatives for the organization
–Work with the Rabbi and the Executive Director to proactively create engagement opportunities (such as events and programs) that encourage connection throughout the year and manage logistics for these programs
–Build and maintain relationships with community partners - including neighborhood organizations, other synagogues, and other community institutions
–Marketing - create flyers, email announcements, social media posts, website listings, and other marketing tools as needed

You’ll be a great fit if you:
–have strong written and verbal communication skills
–bring marketing and fundraising knowledge and skills to the organization
–are tech-savvy (experience with social media, ShulCloud, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, and Excel)
–have great people skills – know what is needed to build community, anticipate others’ needs, and work well in a team
–have strong time management and project management skills
–are organized, with a keen eye for details, and have a knowledge of and passion for Jewish culture and tradition

Required Experience
–Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
–Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of audiences and hold confidential information
–Possess good judgment and a keen awareness of other people’s needs
–Strong orientation toward creative thinking and problem solving
–Experience managing events and working with volunteers
–Work well within a team setting, and assist in building and maintaining a team environment
–Ability to take initiative, but also to accept direction and seek guidance appropriately
–Hebrew Skills a plus!

This position has flexible hours with meetings/programs on the evenings and weekends, particularly around the Jewish holidays. The job description may be modified to fit the candidate’s interests and skills.
