Kesher Newton, in its 19th year, is revolutionizing the landscape of Jewish supplemental education, by providing a Jewish day school experience in an after school program, and we are looking for talented teachers to join us!

We are seeking Hebrew teachers for grades K/1 or 5/6.

Hebrew teachers must be fluent in conversational Hebrew. Experience with the "proficiency approach" to teaching Hebrew is a plus.

Our teachers possess patience, a sense of humor, and love of learning, and they will be both organized and willing to work as part of a cohesive educational team. Creative and "out of the box" lesson planning is a must. At Kesher we primarily work with lessons rooted in project, game, and arts based learning.

For the 2021-2022 school year, Kesher Newton will be located on the current Hebrew College campus in Newton Centre at 160 Herrick Road, Newton Centre, MA.

Staff hours for this position are typically Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 12-6 and Wednesdays 10-6. We plan together collaboratively, and teaching hours are 3-6. (24 hours/week)

There can be some flexibility in planning hours for current day school teachers or graduate students.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Teaching two different Hebrew classes at a similar level

- Attending faculty and professional development meetings

-Collaborative lesson planning on premises


-Weekly quick curriculum updates/photos for Newsletter

- Bi-annual report cards

- Teaching chugim (electives) in Hebrew with specific Hebrew language learning goals

-Assisting with leading all-school assemblies and "shira" (experience as a song leader a plus!)

-Helping to facilitate Kesher family programming 5 times a year (some Sundays or evenings required)

-General after-school program tasks such as preparing snack, facilitating free time and monitoring arrival/dismissal.

Position begins end of August and ends in the end of June 2022.
