12 hours/week mid-August through mid-June

Key Duties & Responsibilities:?
Collaborate on BMitzvah curriculum writing
Teach 5th-7th Grade BMitzvah class 3 afternoons a week 4-6p
Meet 1:1 weekly with BMitzvah students in the year before their BMitzvah celebration
Facilitate quarterly family programming

How will you do this?
Obtain appropriate background checks within 30 days of hire
3 days a week teach grades 5-7
Create structure for supporting individual and small group projects
Lead and teach Tefilah; support students in learning to lead Tefilah
Build relationships with parents through ongoing communication (email & blog)
Use Asana for task management and supervision
Supervised by Center City Director
Participate in regular reflection and goal setting to support your own growth
Typical schedule Monday through Wednesday 2pm to 6pm, plus 1:1 meetings by appointment

Collaborate with Founding Director on BMitzvah process and day-of facilitation
Collaborate with with Founding Director & Center City Director on quarterly family programming
Share the story of BMitzvah cohort’s learning with Communications Manager & Development Assistant for social media and other storytelling
Founding Director and Center City Director for text study to support lesson planning

Minimum of 2 years working with tweens & teens in a Jewish setting
Experience teaching Jewish text
Strong familiarity with Jewish text
MUST have or obtain all appropriate background checks within 30 days of hire

Salary & Benefits:
$25-35/hour depending on where you land on our pay scale. Two weeks of paid time off, 12 hours a week includes paid preparation time, closed for Jewish holidays, and professional development funding available.

COVID Safety:
Makom Community takes COVID safety very seriously. We will continue to exceed CDC’s recommendations for how we handle COVID safety with our on-site educators and students. We expect staff and students will be masked through at least summer and fall. Currently, our whole staff team is vaccinated. We are able to offer support to get you vaccinated if you are not yet. This is a fully in-person role in our site in Center City Philadelphia.
