Sunday School Teachers for 2021-2022 School Year, Part-Time
Beth Chai - The Jewish Humanist Congregation of Greater Washington
Beth Chai in Bethesda is seeking creative, enthusiastic teachers who are interested in teaching from a Jewish Humanist perspective. Our congregation emphasizes Jewish culture, history, values and people hood rather than ritual practice, theology and Hebrew. We are social justice oriented and also care about instilling in students a strong Jewish identity, an appreciation of Judaism and a connection to the Jewish people.
We are looking for teachers who enjoy project-based learning and will challenge our students to think thoughtfully about their Jewish identity.
We meet from 9:30 to noon Sunday mornings. We met virtually for the past year, with shortened hours, but hope to be in person in the fall. In the past, we’ve rented public school space in Bethesda. We are a small, somewhat informal congregation with a strong emphasis on social action. Our Sunday program is a family school - parents stay and learn in adult education while their children have class. Our school has small class sizes and offers a competitive salary. Our classes meet from September through early May. Learn more about Beth Chai at www.BethChai.org.
