Noar Sunday Teacher

Temple Sinai, a dynamic and warm Reform congregation in Sandy Springs, GA is searching for teachers for Noar (meaning “youth” in Hebrew) Sunday, our Sunday morning experiential learning program. We serve grades Pre-K-6th grade, grouped by grade level into classes called “bayit.” Students will also choose electives called “chugim.” Most of our learning will take place in our new outdoor space called the “Mercaz,” through experiential station based learning modules. For more information, please see our brochure by clicking here.

Noar Sunday is guided by these four principles:
-Authentic Jewish content
-Community Building
-Personal choice
-Hands-on learning

Noar Sunday teachers are expected to:
-Review/tweak lessons before Sunday, following our intentional experiential curriculum
-Prepare for each Bayit lesson in advance by double checking supplies and pulling books (as needed and TBD)
-Enjoy teaching and learning in an outdoor setting
-Implement weekly Sunday lessons in a Bayit (home base) class of their own
-Collaborate with teachers in the same grade level to teach the learning goals
-Assist or lead "chugim" which are specials designed for differentiated instruction
-Form positive relationships with students by demonstrating Jewish values and being a role model
-Be a positive connection and ambassador to Temple Sinai when communicating with parents and community members

Applicants should have:
-A love of Jewish experiential learning that fosters joy, adventure, and community
-A creative spirit that allows for “out of the box” teaching and lively, engaging experiences for students
-The desire to learn more than they teach and constantly refine their craft
-An appreciation for working in teams and a commitment to building a strong team
-A commitment to inclusion and celebrating the diversity within our community
