Part-Time Youth Advisor

Temple Beth Shalom in Mahopac, NY seeks a dynamic, engaging, responsible person
to lead and advise youth groups for 5th-7th graders and 8th-12th graders. The older
teens have 1-2 events a month and the younger students have 5-6 events a year. This
part-time position requires 15-20 hours per month from September - June.

Temple Beth Shalom (TBS) of Mahopac, New York, an egalitarian Conservative
synagogue right over the Westchester border in beautiful Putnam County, is a small but
mighty congregation with a vibrant programming calendar and warm, down-to-earth
membership and staff. We are enriched by our diversity and strive to keep Judaism
relevant for our students and families today and into the future.

Core Responsibilities:
Plan and lead 5-6 events for 5th-7th graders.
Along with teen leaders, plan 1-2 events/month for 8th-12th graders. Provide
mentorship and leadership development of TBS Teens Board.
Ongoing communication and planning with TBS Staff, parents, and TBS Teens
Board Members.
Prepare and communicate monthly activity calendar of events for Youth Activities
through emails, social media, and printed materials.
Build and maintain relationships with teens and their families; seek to grow youth
participation and engagement.
Initiate connections with other Hudson Valley Jewish Youth Groups and promote
regional events to TBS Teens. Attendance at these events is not required, but
you will receive an additional per diem payment if you attend with our youth.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Creative, optimistic, and passionate about making a difference in the future of
Jewish youth. Experience with the Conservative Movement is a plus.
Proven leadership skills and ability to serve as a role model and mentor for youth.
Experience working with youth and teens.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Self-motivated and energetic with a vision for student participation, engagement,
and growth.
Effective management and communication skills.
Proficiency in social media platforms.
Jewish Camp experience is a bonus, but not required.

$4500-5500 depending on experience, plus per diem regional events. Opportunity to
lead monthly Early Childhood programming and/or High Holiday programming if
