Torah Day School of Seattle (TDS) is seeking a full-time Rebbi or Morah to teach two classes at the elementary school level (2nd & 3rd grades). The teacher should have a strong knowledge of decoding and fluency skills in Chumash and a strategy for increasing Kriah proficiency. At least 3 years of experience in effective teaching styles is required. The teacher should see him/herself as a role model for the students and embody Torah values. Incorporating a growth mindset into the classroom environment is one of the fundamental beliefs at TDS. TDS uses a progressive model of education, allowing for differentiated instruction and creative expression of ideas while maintaining a commitment to authentic Torah observance. We stress strongly the relationship between teacher and student as a model for success, as well as the Teacher’s ability to be flexible and creative in order to facilitate the learning process.
TDS is a unique place to teach. We embody the philosophy of a “child-centered” approach. Teachers are guided to utilize a differentiated model of instruction to help students develop appropriately and to reach high standards of excellence in Torah and General Studies. The school is full of dedicated Judaic and General Studies teachers functioning as a well-oiled team, guided by an experienced administration and supported by strong parent involvement and broader community commitment.
