Passionate and energetic teachers for K-7 students of our small synagogue's Torah School.
Candidates must be prepared to develop age-appropriate lesson for students of diverse backgrounds and proficiencies on topics including Hebrew reading and writing, Jewish holidays and observances, Jewish History, The Diversity of the Jewish People and Los Angeles Community, Jewish prayer, Bible stories, social justice, etc.
Teachers will attend regular faculty meetings that will take place after class, in addition to other professional development opportunities.
Successful candidates will exhibit proactivity, and a willingness to partner with Torah School Director, other teachers, and Rabbi in creating meaningful experiences for students. Experiential learning and fun classroom environment are of paramount importance.
This is not going to be your grandmother's Hebrew School! While B. Mitzvah skills are important, our goal is to enable learners to find guidance and meaning within Jewish tradition and community life. Teacher's are encouraged to share their passions with their students, and to model curiosity and life-long learning.
Wages will be determined based upon experience, ranging between $20-$30/hour. Our community is seeking to develop long-term relationships with faculty as our program grows and develops.
