Bet Am Shalom is a Reconstructionist synagogue looking for a Hebrew and Judaics teacher for Torah La’am, our Hebrew school program. The position would include teaching a 6th grade class on Sunday mornings, from 9:00 to 11:30am, and Wednesday afternoons, from 4:00 to 6:00pm. We have an established sixth grade curriculum that is flexible depending on the strengths and interests of the teacher. Additional responsibilities include supervising a small cohort of teen madrichim and attending staff meetings approximately once per month on Wednesdays evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Torah La’am is an experiential educational program that serves to build community around Jewish culture, values, and literacy. Successful candidates for this position will be passionate about sharing Judaism with the next generation and strive to bring creativity and care to the classroom. Hebrew proficiency and a strong Judaics background preferred. Flexible start date.
