Job Description & Responsibilities
The Development & Communication Manager plays a key role in our team by implementing Sacred Spaces’ annual fundraising and communications goals and positioning Sacred Spaces as an essential community resource, a leader in its field, and a worthy investment for potential funders. This position will be an integral part of our staff and strategic thought partner as Sacred Spaces continues to grow.
The Manager reports to the Executive Vice President and works directly with the CEO. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a start-up culture and is interested in collaborating with innovative professionals as they create large-scale change in the Jewish community.
Manage and maintain fundraising operations, including database records for donors and grant reporting calendar.
Write grant proposal narratives, letters of inquiry, reports, and supporting documents.
Prepare grant budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
Ensure all donations are tracked and acknowledged in a timely manner and, when relevant, in compliance with all foundation reporting needs.
Support our annual end-of-year individual donor campaign by working with the team to craft content, develop a timeline, and bring creative thinking to the process.
Proactively work to identify new development opportunities and strengthen management systems.
Communications & Marketing:
Collaborate with the team to develop communications strategies that broaden program and service reach and deepen the impact of public education.
Coordinate and implement the design and production of a monthly newsletter, including managing the email list.
Generate quarterly stakeholder updates, highlighting program successes and content insights.
Develop and oversee production of top-quality print and digital collateral, working alongside graphic designers to develop new materials.
Manage digital presence, including social media accounts.
Ensure that Sacred Spaces’ website remains up-to-date with content and news pieces, eventually overseeing the development of a new website and alignment with our program web platforms.
Proactively identify opportunities for expanding communications and amplifying Sacred Spaces’ work.
Qualifications and Skills of Ideal Candidate:

Exceptional writing skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce engaging, compelling, and nuanced materials, including grant reports and communications materials.
Minimum five years of development and/or communications experience, including implementing creative and innovative development and/or communications plans.
Strong time-management skills and the ability to work at a fast pace and meet concurrent deadlines.
Self-motivated with the ability to work remotely and collaboratively.
Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Collaborative and flexible style, with a growth mindset and team approach.
Proficiency with WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, other social media platforms, and related analytics and/or commitment to learning new systems, trends, and analytics.
Knowledge of MailChimp or similar HTML newsletter platform, and integrations with Zoom, Salesforce, and other tools to optimize marketing and fundraising efforts.
Commitment to the mission of the organization.
Experience with Jewish communal non-profit organizations and/or knowledge of the North American Jewish community is a plus.
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include HRA and FSA options, paid time off, paid parental leave, all Jewish and major national holidays off, and a robust professional development stipend in a flexible work environment.

Applicants moved forward will continue on to a 30-minute first-round interview with a Sacred Spaces Team member.
Applicants moved forward will complete a written assignment of no more than two pages. While the assignment resembles the work of this position, this piece is only for evaluative purposes and not for use by Sacred Spaces.
Applicants who are moved to a final round will have a one-hour interview with the CEO and Executive Vice President.
