The Kehillah of Lower Merion is seeking a Kehillah Coordinator to work 15 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends. Our Kehillah Coordinator will help foster collaborative programming with a Jewish theme and will work with our talented group of cross-denominational rabbis, educators, and lay leaders. The Kehillah Coordinator will also maintain an active channel of communication between the Jewish Federation and the Main Line Jewish community.
The Kehillah of Lower Merion seeks to strengthen and grow a greater sense of community among Jews on the Main Line and facilitate increased access to Jewish engagement opportunities. The goals of our Kehillah are to:
*Serve as a concierge service connecting Jewish individuals to services they are seeking
*Build an interconnected community among local Jewish institutions, facilitating partnerships and collaboration
*Plan and execute community-based programming to increase cohesion and leverage the power of shared resources
*Create accessible and inclusive Jewish experiences in the public sphere in order to draw in people who are not connected to our Jewish
institutions and create opportunities to showcase the local institutions.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Jewish professional passionate about engaging community members of all ages and denominational affiliations as well as non-affiliated individuals and families. This position is funded through an ongoing grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
*Background in community organizing and/or community programming,
*Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills,
*Event planning expertise,
*Strong familiarity with email and social media marketing techniques and website management,
*Deep familiarity with Jewish life on the Main Line, and live in or around the Main Line,
*Familiarity with the Jewish calendar, life-cycle, and customs in the Jewish community,
*Access to a car, and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends,
*A positive attitude.
Responsibilities will include:
* Foster a sense of community within the Kehillah and be the “face” of the Jewish community on the Main Line.
*Develop a concierge service that will make the Kehillah the first stop for anyone looking to connect with the community.
*Organize and facilitate meetings of Jewish community leadership on the Main Line (including clergy, education directors, executive
directors and lay leaders).
*Work with leadership to identify and execute Kehillah priorities including activities, events, and initiatives to engage community members.
*Expand and manage all communication and marketing the Kehillah’s concierge service and for Kehillah-related activities, events and
initiatives. Marketing efforts may include managing the Kehillah Facebook page, digital newsletter, and list-serve and distribution of event
*Partner with Jewish Federation to support Jewish life within the Kehillah, to bring Jewish Federation programming to the Main Line, and to
connect people in the Main Line with opportunities within the Jewish Federation.
*Learn about the challenges and opportunities for Jewish life in the Kehillah and share those learnings with Jewish Federation and Kehillah
*Provide the Jewish Federation’s Grant and Evaluations department with a biannual report on the Kehillah’s activities.
*Manage the budget of the Kehillah in partnership with Kehillah leadership.
