Congregation B’nai Shalom (CBS) is a suburban synagogue located in Walnut Creek, California. CBS is about 40 minutes from San Francisco and 25 minutes from the University of California, Berkeley. CBS is a growing, financially secure Conservative Jewish congregation of almost 300 families. We have a thriving Jewish preschool, an active religious school and a growing youth program.

We are looking for an organized, people-oriented, entrepreneurial leader with excellent supervisorial and human resource skills who can take initiative and help us realize our vision.
POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the synagogue’s administration and operations. S/he takes direction from and is accountable to the President of the Congregation and the Board of Directors.
More specifically, the Executive Director:
• partners with clergy, professional staff, and lay leaders to develop, execute and evaluate policies, and to build and manage the human, financial and physical resources of the synagogue.
• works collaboratively with lay leadership on membership recruitment and growth, integration and retention activities.
• manages the congregation's administrative and financial affairs, including supervisory responsibility for building management, administrative, accounting, preschool, religious school, and outside contracted personnel.
• provides support for professional staff, Board of Directors, committees and for long-term financial planning and fundraising, including, as needed, support for annual operation giving, grant applications, endowment and fundraising campaigns. S/he will have other duties as assigned.
