Communications & Administrative Associate

Temple Micah is a Reform synagogue located in DC. We are home to about 600 families from throughout the DC metro area. We put a premium on creativity, experimentation (understanding that not all experiments are successful) and learning. We are not a place that stands still. As a congregation, we ask big questions and seek a greater sense of coherence, meaning, and possibility about who we are and want to be. In a typical staff meeting, we are just as likely to discuss why we are doing an event or program as we are planning the logistics. Job Description:
• Create content for internal and external communications, including writing text, designing graphics, curating photographs, and creating print materials
• Develop and maintain a communications calendar for emails, social media posts, and website updates
• Coordinate with staff and lay leaders to ensure that information about Micah’s programs and events is clear, accessible, and timely
• Keep website (WordPress) fresh and up-to-date
• Maintain social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, sharing content and promoting Micah events and services
• Work with web developer, IT manager, photographers, and other graphic designers as needed to maintain an updated online presence
• Manage YouTube channel including editing and uploading videos and organizing playlists
• Proofread written material for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Monitor effectiveness of web, email, and social media messaging using platform analytics
• Engage with staff, members and lay leaders on a daily basis
• Provide administrative support for programs, events, and departments as needed

• Is creative and enjoys graphic design
• Can organize and prioritize many moving parts and people
• Possesses computer savvy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications (Calendar, Gmail, Google Docs, Drive)
• Loves using Canva and can also use Adobe Photoshop or similar design program when needed
• Is familiar with website content management and social media best practices
• Has exceptional customer service skills, and is able to write, speak, and interact clearly and professionally
• Is meticulous and pays close attention to details
• Has a college degree and/or equivalent experience in communications
