Position Summary:

Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. We fight poverty through comprehensive social services and by treating each client with compassion, integrity and respect. Our ten different departments are staffed by experts who help over 225,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our programs range from 100% affordable housing at 21 locations to our family violence program to Holocaust survivor assistance to senior programming to crisis intervention to the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 75 food pantries, affordable housing sites and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York.

The Associate Director, Grants works closely with the grant management team to implement Met Council's foundation relations strategies. The specific tasks for this role are geared toward supporting the grant management team with the production and tracking of letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and grant reports. The Associate Director, Grants will oversee and maintain a calendar of proposals and reports, research and follow up on potential foundation prospects, and work collaboratively to maintain data integrity in our database as it relates to grants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Help establish a yearly planning process for foundation outreach and solicitations
Assist with drafting letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and grant reports in conjunction with Directors, Foundations & Grants
Develop and update stock proposals for Met Council’s diverse program areas
Outreach directly to foundation professionals and trustees as appropriate
Work with departmental directors and the Fiscal Department to obtain financial and other ancillary materials for grant proposals
Create and maintain a calendar of proposals and reports to help ensure production timelines are met
Produce and maintain an ongoing list of prospect research for foundations
In conjunction with database administrator, oversee data entry and management of grants and foundations in Salesforce
Liaise with Fiscal Department and Database Administrator on coding grant payments
Stay abreast of best practices and strategies

Skill and Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree
Proficient with Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook Calendar)
2-3 years related work experience
