Vibrant, small Conservative synagogue (USCJ) in Roanoke, VA is seeking a warm, knowledgeable, and energetic Jewish Education Director.
Responsibilities will include administration, teaching, congregational programming and working with adults, children, and teens.
The Director will collaborate with the Rabbi, leadership teams, and parents to:
- Coordinate Tot Shabbats, family friendly shabbats, Holiday family programs, and educational/social programming to engage young
- Review and help revise B’nai Mitzvah and Hebrew School programming/curriculum.
- Create programming for young adults
- Plan Adult Education and Scholar-in-residence programs.
The qualified candidate should have a knowledge and passion for teaching Jewish values and customs; the ability to develop strong relationships with the Rabbi, lay leaders and parents; and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The right person will bring enthusiasm and creativity as well as skills and knowledge.
An ability to lead services and read Torah to be considered a strong plus; potential for High Holiday cantorial role as well.
Musical ability is highly desirable.
Degree in Jewish Education or background and experience preferred.
