First Grade Maternity Leave Substitute Teacher
We are a K-8 Jewish Day School in the Pico-Robertson area committed to growing students’ academic and social/emotional skills, seeking a first grade maternity leave substitute teacher from April - June.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful and committed elementary school educator who is energized by our warm, collaborative, and enriching environment. The teacher will implement a high-quality, rigorous, and engaging academic program. The teacher will find ways to incorporate the objectives and goals of the curriculum through activities that are creatively, intellectually, and physically stimulating.
Responsibilities of the Maternity Leave Substitute Teacher will include, but are not limited to:
Foster positive and collaborative learning environments where the unique needs of all children are met, giving them a chance to learn important concepts in an interactive hands-on environment.
Collaborate with the lead teacher to expertly design and implement an engaging, constructivist, age-appropriate curriculum. Areas of teaching responsibility include, but are not limited to: language arts, math, science, social science, and social skills.
Implement individual student and classroom learning goals into daily activities/lessons.
Oversee and manage behavior inside and outside the classroom consistent with the lead teacher’s program.

Educational Background & Experience:
A bachelor’s degree or higher
2+ years teaching at the lower elementary level
A California teaching credential, or be working towards a teaching credential
Experience with Readers and Writers Workshop (and/or interest in being trained), but not required
