Bethesda Jewish Congregation is seeking a spirited creative and engaging individual to be our Program and Worship Coordinator. BJC is an innovative, warm, diverse and inclusive community, promoting Jewish values of social justice and spirituality. We hope to find a who, with our Rabbi and our community will create programs that speak to our members, and inspire others to join us. The position will require flexibility and an ability to be creative and adapt to current events and conditions.
The Program and Worship Coordinator will work in partnership with the Rabbi, BJC Staff, and several committees of the Board. They are responsible for creation, marketing, delivery, and evaluation of BJC’s programs; and will look for ways to integrate and build on the strengths of one program into the next to elevate BJC’s connection with members and prospective members.
Develop and implement innovative and meaningful spiritual programming for the BJC community in partnership with the Rabbi.
Support Rabbi during Shabbatot and holidays; including logistics and preparation on Fridays, as well as attendance and participation in at least 3 Shabbat evening services/month.
Initiate, implement and promote small- and large- scale programs in collaboration with staff and board committees including Program, Social Action, Education, Interfaith/Inter-Congregational, and Fundraising.
Planning and budgeting, logistical support, volunteer engagement, marketing and social media, evaluation of all programs.
Provide and update content, as it relates to programs, website, weekly bulletins, monthly newsletter, and other social media outlets.
Regular attendance at committee meetings and board meetings, typically evenings.
Other duties as required.
• A creative and proactive organizer of programs and people in a collaborative
• Ability and willingness to staff and be present for at least 3 Shabbats/month
• College degree,
• Experienced in managing social media presence, including outreach.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work across diverse constituencies
• At least 3 years of cumulative experience working in a Jewish communal setting.
• Capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively
Salary Range - $35,000 - $40,000

Location as of 7/1/21: On-site requirement, with opportunity for some remote hours
