Yeshivat Mekor Chaim, a boys’ Yeshiva High School located in Baltimore, Maryland, seeks a dynamic and talented educator for the position of Assistant Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. The Assistant Principal position is a full-time, 12 month position. The AP reports to the Head of School.
With an emphasis on academic excellence in both Torah Studies and General Studies and focus on the whole child using project-based learning empowered by excellent educators, YMC provides young men with the tools to succeed as educated, engaged, and committed Jews.
The Assistant Principal will work with the Head of School and with the school’s support staff to prepare for the academic year beginning on August 1, 2021.
Under the supervision of (and often in collaboration with) the Head of School, the Assistant Principal will:
+ create an atmosphere that nurtures a love of Hashem, His Torah, His People, and His land.
+ manage, evaluate, and implement clear and effective procedures for the operation and functioning of the school including special programs, + extracurricular activities, advisory, and behavior management systems.
+ supervise and manage the educational program to ensure academic excellence and the growth of all students.
+ collaborate with teachers and the Head of School to design curricula that utilize research-based best practices to create rigorous, dynamic, skill-building learning environments that meet the needs of our student body.
+ oversee a variety of assessments and use data to assist student growth, self-reflection, and instruction.
+ supervise the reporting, monitoring, and follow-up activities regarding student growth, progress, and attendance.
+ supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff.
+ teach one or two periods daily of a high level Torah class.
+ advise students and their parents about the college, Yeshiva, or other Israeli program entrance processes, and support them through the application and admissions processes.
+ communicate effectively with students, staff, administrative and supervisory personnel, parents, and the community.
+ recruit students by evaluating recruiting techniques and materials, interviewing prospective students, and initiating campaigns to induce students to attend YMC.
+ engage in professional and community activities as an official representative of YMC.
The successful candidate must have:
+ a Master’s degree in Jewish Education or Educational Leadership.
+ experience in teaching Torah and in teaching at the High School (min. 3 years).
+ expertise in Torah curricula.
+ some school-based leadership experience.
The ideal candidate will also have:
+ experience in college guidance / Israel guidance.
+ experience as an Assistant Principal (or similar position).
+ familiarity with general studies curricula and standards.
