DOROT, a nonprofit organization, is a dynamic partnership of seniors, volunteers and professionals dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults. DOROT’s wide array of innovative programs and services for older adults bring the generations together (DOROT means “generations” in Hebrew) to alleviate loneliness and social isolation. Compassionate service and a commitment to excellence are hallmarks of DOROT’s work.
The older adults comprising the DOROT community range in age from 60 to over 100 and represent a diverse population. Approximately 6,000 volunteers of all ages are recruited every year to support DOROT’s staff of social workers and program and volunteer administrators to improve the lives and health of older adults and address the challenges of an aging society.

DOROT social workers skillfully match volunteers with older adults based on shared interests for weekly or monthly visits, which result in long-lasting and mutually beneficial connections.
