Job Description:
Temple Emanuel Sinai is seeking a personable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to provide front-desk and administrative support to the Temple Administrator and the Rabbi. The ideal candidate will know how to communicate clearly and effectively with both the Administrator and Rabbi, and will be friendly and patient with congregant requests.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a small congenial office team. This position is half-time (20 hours per week). Ideal working hours would be 10am-3pm Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri. We are closed on Tuesdays. As this is a front-desk position and the temple is now open for services, the position will be expected to work from the office during temple business hours.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Office Support:
Screen phone calls, redirect calls, and take messages
Schedule appointments, meetings, and reservations as needed
Assist with mailings – including newsletters, billing statements, and condolence letters
Maintain weekly Service Notes list
Maintain membership and religious school rosters
Maintain temple calendar
Co-ordinate temple volunteer lists
Co-ordinate with lay leaders as needed (e.g. for requesting bi-monthly newletter articles)

Rabbinic Support:
Handwrite donation acknowledgements
Assist with scheduling and prioritizing appointments
E-mail Triage for immediacy/importance
Pastoral Care Follow-up reminders

Qualifications:
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Familiarity with mail merging

Familiarity with business phone systems – including redirecting calls
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable with routinely shifting demands – the position supports both the Temple Administrator and the Rabbi
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Ability to multi-task
Customer service experience or orientation

Familiarity with ShulClould (our membership and billing system) a plus, but not required (training will be provided)
Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Instagram) a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:
The position comes with sick/vacation time, as well as paid holidays for both federal and Jewish holidays. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer medical insurance or retirement compensation.

Salary: $17/hour
