Onward Israel provides participants with an immersive and transformative resume-building internship experience in Israel. The Onward Israel New York & Camp Counselor Programs Coordinator will work as part of our North American team on both our New York and Camp Counselor Programs. The New York Program is an 8-week internship program for students on campuses in New York City, Westchester and Long Island. The Camp Counselor Program is a 5-week internship program for individuals who wish to have an internship in Israel before going back to camp to work for the summer. This is a national cohort for participating camps.
Onward Israel USA, Inc. seeks to hire a full-time Programs Coordinator in order to meet the programmatic and organizational goals and needs of each program.

Job Description:

Responsibilities as the Onward Israel New York Program Coordinator include:
• Build and implement outreach and recruitment strategies, appropriate for New York, based on partnerships with local Hillels, Israel Fellows on campus, University career centers and study abroad offices, student groups and other organizations
• Activate and engage relationships with key campus professionals in order to implement recruitment strategies
• Recruit, screen and accept 120 program participants through direct interviews and partnership with the Israel based program organizer, using Onward Israel acceptance criteria and CRM system
• Visit campuses to meet students, campus professionals and attend relevant campus events
• Identify one Onward Israel alumni to hire, train, and supervise as a New York Program Intern to assist in conducting interviews and represent Onward Israel at various campus and community held events
• Provide reports and information to the funding partner of the Program
• Lay the groundwork for recruitment and development of local partnerships that can help expand Onward Israel in New York beyond the current recruitment year

Responsibilities as the Onward Israel Camp Counselor Program include:
• Build and implement outreach and recruitment strategies to recruit participants from participating camps and to bring in new camps
• Recruit, screen and accept up to 60 program participants through direct interviews and partnership with the Israel based program organizer, using Onward Israel acceptance criteria and CRM system
• Work directly with the Onward Israel education team to implement camp focused programming during the summer program

Responsibilities as the Coordinator for both programs and general responsibilities:
• Directly market and publicize the programs with guidance from the Onward Israel Director of New Hybrid Initiatives & Internal Programs
• Screening and interviewing applicants
• Monitor program development with the Israel based program organizers
• Plan and implement pre-program orientations/webinars for participants
• Keep systems maintained and CRM updated to move applicants through the process and ensure follow up for needed materials from applicants
• Troubleshoot applicant and participant issues throughout the year, especially during summer months when programs are taking place in Israel

Onward Israel will prioritize the following characteristics among interested candidates:
1) Understanding of the age group for Onward Israel and how to market to them, particularly about programs and opportunities
a. In depth knowledge of and exposure to the diverse experiences of university students in the New York area
b. In depth knowledge of and exposure to the Jewish camp setting
2) Prior experience conducting interviews and understanding of sensitivities during this process (including financial, cultural, etc.) a huge plus

3) Prior administrative experience overseeing ongoing projects and large amounts of data in an office environment with strong organizational skills, follow through and attention to detail
4) Ability to think creatively and problem solve
5) Ability to work as part of a national and global team and still handle individual challenges
6) Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive
7) Direct experience in immersive experiences outside of North America. Preference given to alumni of an Onward Israel program or long term Israel based program

Additional Information:
- B.A. or equivalent
- 2-4 years prior work experience
- Some travel (when feasible) will be expected
- Start date: July 1, 2021
- Expected salary is for $45,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance and more
